Carla and Crappy Show: The What Week Is It Again Edition
It's Week 4 of the college football season, and time to officially welcome the SEC and the Big Ten to ... whatever it is we've got going this year. Because, yeah, you'd think we'd have an idea by now but ...
After a review of last weekend's activity, including three unexpected late thrillers (which we somehow managed not to mention last week) and a bunch of questions about Oklahoma State and Notre Dame, we turn our attention to ... the Big Ten's now-official decision to play football this fall. (C'mon. You knew we would.) We also take the opportunity to reevaluate our Final Fours.
And then ... we get into this weekend's action ... including three ranked-on-ranked matchups! (Yes, that statement is worthy of an exclamation point.)
No. 23 Kentucky at No. 8 Auburn (Noon ET, SEC Network): Welcome back, SEC! And welcome back, Bo Nix ... and ... we're not sure who else for Auburn. Meanwhile, UK looks awesome on paper. Is it possible that the Cats could actually win this game?
No. 24 Louisville at No. 21 Pitt (Noon Et, ACC Network): Louisville looked lackluster on defense last week against The U. But, can Pitt really start a season 3-0? You'll want to watch this one just to see the Panthers unis.
No. 22 Army at No. 14 Cincinnati (3:30 ET, ESPN): The Bearcats, at least for now, are the last real test on Army's schedule until the annual rivalry game. UC has a battalion of running backs and 16 returning starters. Is it ready for the Army option?
Honorable mention this week goes to Mississippi State at No. 6 LSU (3:30 ET, CBS), as Carla wonders how the new Bulldog air raid offense (led by former Tree QB KJ Costello) will fare against a depleted LSU team ... that also runs a pro-style offense. Crappy, meanwhile, offers a hearty hello to his good football friends in the great state of Nebraska, who are going to get all the football they want -- and then some -- when the season begins.
Enjoy the football this weekend, yinz!
