Carla and Crappy Show: The Tiny Sample Size Edition
It's Week 2 of the college football season and, well, we'll be honest. This weekend isn't loaded with marquee matchups like our five-day opening holiday bonanza was.
So, Carla and Crappy take this opportunity to do one of their most favorite things, which is to make very broad generalizations based on a very limited amount of data. Welcome to the first overreaction episode of the 2021 season.
We look back at some of the key moments in Week 1 and tackle some very important questions:
Is Georgia's defense good enough to win the SEC East? Is Clemson's offense in trouble? Was 2020 a mulligan year for Penn State? Are we doomed to another "Bama versus the field" season? What the heck happened to Indiana? Is Oklahoma's defense still a problem?
While the Week 2 slate lacks the big matchups on the Top 25 side of the conversation, AJ is overrun with a bunch of good #GroupOfFiveAfterDark games.
And then we break down the two (yes, just two) games that have our attention.
No. 12 Oregon at No. 3 Ohio State (Big Nude Saturday, FOX): Crappy is super excited to be attending his first live college football game since 2019. Carla's a wee bit concerned about the 400+ yards that the Bucks gave up on defense against Minnesota, but this isn't the Duck offense that we're used to either.
No. 10 Iowa at No. 9 Iowa State (4:30 ET, ABC): Iowa steamrolled Indiana last weekend, while the Cyclones struggled against a directional Iowa. Iowa State has been a team trending upward over the last several seasons, but the Hawkeyes have won five straight in this series. Is this the year Matt Campbell finally gets his win in the Cy-Hawk game?
Finally, Carla gives an honorable mention nod to Stanford at No. 14 USC (10:30 ET, FOX), while Crappy introduces a new weekly segment on the #CnCShow.
Enjoy the football this weekend, yinz guys. Cheers.
